'A Common Ground' - Video documentary

So a few years back i had the pleasure of attending the FEST in florida FEST 6 as it were, my favourite venue at the whole thing was the COMMON GROUNDS it recently closed down as a music venue and i thought id post this short for everyone to see how cool it was!

Common Grounds was the heart of the Gainesville Music Community for 15 years. It closed its doors on June 26, 2011. This mini-documentary was created to provide a snapshot of the legendary life of this music venue.
Filmed and edited by Eric Atria
Eternal Thanks to Nigel, Jason, and everyone at Common Grounds!!

Teenage BottleRocket Review

Teenage Bottlerocket - Mutilate Me

(Fat Wreck Chords 2011)

Mutilate Me is the new EP from Teenage Bottlerocket, a pop punk band from Wyoming who have recently been described as the only redeeming feature of Descendents’ recent London show. TBR offer a brand of pop-punk from the past. Their resemblance to The Ramones, Screeching Weasel and The Riverdales is utterly undeniable. This little EP is the perfect introduction into the band; the two original songs on the record really represent what the band is about, snotty singing with hooked filled riffs holding together three chord wonders that make it impossible not to tap your feet to.

Despite its horror punk connotations it’s actually a really good little EP. Spanning less than six minutes, it’s over almost as soon as it starts but commands a few replays. The opening track “Mutilate Me” is as catchy as you’d expect but has the staying power that makes you wish it was part of an album rather than a ridiculously short EP. “Punk Rock House of Horrors” is everything I love about Teenage Bottlerocket; almost falsetto high vocals, fast and hook driven, it’s definitely the favourite of the three songs. The third any final track of Mutilate Me is a cover of Henchman by Bad Religion. It seems that Teenage Bottlerocket have managed the almost impossible task of making a fast Bad Religion song even faster than the original.

All in all this a great EP and well worth a listen, but it doesn’t live up for the band’s latest and greatest full length “They Came From The Shadows”.

New Epic Social Distortion Video for 'Machine Gun Blues'

Social Distortion have premiered a breathtaking new short film, an extended music video for the track “Machine Gun Blues” with a red carpet premiere event & live set in Hollywood last week. The band are currently preparing for a full European tour this summer, which stops in London for a performance at the Shepherds Bush Empire on July 7th.

The short film for “Machine Gun Blues” starts in 1934 Los Angeles as Mike Ness and his “Blood and Sorrow” crew of gangsters knock off a bank, only to realize the feds are hot on their trail. Shot at the famous Union Station in downtown LA and surrounding areas, the gang is chased through rolling, dusty roads to their hideout for an explosive showdown. Watch the video here.
Following the release of the band’s critically acclaimed seventh album, ‘Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes’, Social Distortion are ready for a busy summer schedule of festivals and European shows. Be sure to catch the band in London this July for what is to be a special one-off UK headline show.

Thats Not all, recently i found some 'lost' interviews on my pc one of which with the guys themselves from a few years back, this has never been seen, read or heard so check it out!

Living With lions Interview - Toronto Canada

WWR: so we are here at the Opera house Toronto, I just got here I saw the CN tower in the car on the way

LVL: its a beautiful building

WWR: ha awesome, okay so you guys want to introduce yourself and tell us what you do in the band apart from smoke?

LVL: ha yes im chase I play guitar , im Shane and i play bass

WWR: So your on tour right now with a Wilhelm scream hows it going?

LVL: its amazing you know its a Wilhelm scream we don't know what else to say we watch them from the side of the stage every night and our jaws drop. We feel so privileged to do this tour and its just been a party basically!

WWR: can you keep up with their drinking habits?

LVL: sure we hit it hard every night with them especially nuno, we can keep up!

WWR: so how did you guys form as a band?

LVL: Pretty much like 3 of us moved from a small town in Alberta, then we came up to Vancouver after we graduated. we pretty much knew nobody but we were like fuck Alberta this sucks. Alberta like the most red neck providence in Canada
there'ss cowboys and all that shit, so we were inVancouverr and we just sat around and did nothing and wetriedd to meet people and they just blew us off cause of where we are from, so we started going to shows andII met chase at a showII think it was daggermouth and final fight, we traded numbers then we would see each other down at the bar and he would bum smokes off me all night soIi thought cool maybell have a friend ifIi give him cigarettes all night

Chase: for the record he has never been my friend, ha

So they were in a band called Drakes and they had just broke up, their singer came and moved in with us so chase would come over and party and we started hanging out in the basement jamming and shit so that's how it started we just ended up living together and having party's

WWR: cool, so how was it progressing from the 1st EP to the album 'make your mark' ?

LVL: I dunno it was weird like we were saying we were just jamming in our basement we weren't trying to start a band at all, just hanging out and writing stuff we loved and emulating our influences in a way. so when we wrote the EP that was those songs it wasn't like ow we are going to write like this, it was just like off the cuff random shit. So when we went to do this CD we had already signed to a record label and been touring we were a band at that point so it was a completely different scenario we had to actually focus and write songs and it wasn't and random but it was cool we learnt a different aspect and learnt how to play in a different way and it worked out for the better, it was stressful we only had a couple months to write it since we were too busy drinking beer being idiots and watching TV, but it worked out in the end!

WWR: So at which point did you take the band seriously?

LVL: our friends daggermouth invited us on tour so we was like yea we might as well go play some shows and it was fun, nice burp!

WWR: thanks, Canadian drinks are really full of gas! i've been drinking a lot of molson

LVL: the next morning is the worse, yea they had to close off the toilet in the venue cause of my stench before anyway so we went on tour with daggermouth and decided we are a band.

WWR: do you high Prospects for the band?

LVL: we just want to tour really, if we had the means to be on the road 12 months of the year then we would be doing it, that's all we want to do cause we all work like shitty jobs when we get home at warehouses and construction or whatever , so the only thing we want to do is to play in a band and be on tour that's our life goal, Chase: yea cause its fun we get to stink up bathrooms and play shows, yea so its pretty much doing everything you love and doing it for a living.
We want to come do the UK soon

WWR: yea it seems your getting a good fan base already!

WWR: so what do you think of the scene in Canada right now? you've got attack in black, flatiners and of course your favourite band sum 41!

LVL: favourite band ever! I don't know if you've seen it but they've got dmx in their video! and that shit is big timee, they use to be a rad band and then they got dmx to ride in on their video on a quadIi mean how the fuck do you get that to happen?
I think the Canadian scene is getting really good, I think we have toured Canada so much at this point that all we want to do is tour other places and its been amazing but we want to do the UK, Japan and Australia and see other places.
I think the scenes getting strong, it had a little bit too much red hair and screaming then singing in songs but I have high hopes for it now.
Its definitely getting better I mean we have Propagandhi, those guys are amazing.
the thing is down in the states the kids catch on to things a lot quicker than here, so if some thingss cool there then 4 years later it will drift up here, that why screamos still big up here but dead in the states. we did our 2nd tour on the west coast and we did house shows and stuff and seeing 15 year old kids wearing minor threat t shirts is amazing, if we stopped a 15 year old now in Canada and asked them who minor threat were they wouldn't have a fucking clue, we have done tours with covers like face to face and saves the day but in Canada they are like what the fuck is that?
So touring Canada is fun but kids in the states get it more, it seems even the UK has a stronger scene since we hear from more people in the UK then we do in Canada, so you know the state of California has a bigger population then the whole of Canada

WWR: so make your mark a lot of its about touring and having fun, was it fun to record?

LVL: yea well matt wrote a lot of the lyrics while we were away, we actually flew here to Toronto to do the album and that point the CD was written except lyrics for the songs, so we were staying in a house so it was kinda like being on tour.
I think it gave matt more free reign with stuff and he wasn't focusing on certain problems or any issues he had in his life so when he's writing out the lyrics he's saying we are free and doing what we love. we wrote these songs about all kinds of stuff they weren't depressing at all , songs about tour time and the odd song about a girl or some shit you cant get away from it.
So we were locked in this house with one floor and three feet of snow on all sides and we are all freezing since we are from Vancouver and no one wanted to go outside so matt would write and it was like living at home again, we were there for a month and had no vehicle or means of getting anywhere, so we would hang out and play video games and watch porno.

WWR: so did you do the actual recording yourselves or?

LVL: no we would go out to a bunch of suburbs to do certain recordings of drums , bass or whatever so we would be in the studio in the day and nights at home, it was rad since it was so slack since we weren't in there recording everyday for 20 hours, where as on the up we did it at night since we were all working at the same time so we would do 12- 4am then go to work the next day.

Guy walks past ruined

LVL: that's Costa from boys night out, we named the song after that guy he pisses all over bars and other such antics, we call him the dirty Portuguese cause he stinks all the time.

WWR: so hear anything good lately?

LVL: yes, i've been listening to the hold steady! being in a punk band you always listen to the same CD's so I ask my friends what they listen to so they are my stand out band they are amazing.
Chase: im big into Millencolin right now, I rediscovered that band. and of course jawbreaker is always on rotation with me, we've been listening to a lot ISHC on this tour its really funny 'never forget, never forget!'

WWR: okay that's all, want to add anything?

LVL: yes hopefully everyone in Europe we will see you soon! especially the UK, we're sick of Canada! thanks for the interview and I want to eat some fish and chips! how much is beer in London?

WWR: about £3.50/4 a pint

LVL: wow, do you think theyl take our Canadian money in the UK? I want the queen to knight me!
